The original recipe for Pastel
- 300 grams of honey
- 300 grams of pure sesame paste
For a good sesame paste you need raw seeds and oil (about 2 teaspoons of oil are used for a cup of seeds – you can use olive, sesame or sunflower oil). Fry the seeds on light heat without fat for 5-10 minutes, stirring them constantly so you don’t burn them. When they’re done, put them in a blender along with the oil and mix until the desired thickness of the paste is achieved.
Mix the 2 ingredients in a bowl, and you’ll get a mass like a dough. During mixing, you can add almonds, walnuts, pistachios (nuts in general) for taste. You mustn’t bake the mix because it’ll lose the ingredients and the taste!
