This Pineapple Lemonade Smoothie Will Fight Spring Allergies and Reduce Inflammation
Forget the refined sugar laden lemonade you get in stores. This pineapple lemonade smoothie will satisfy your cravings and fight off those nasty spring time allergies all at once.
The reason I love making smoothies with pineapple is because it has this frothy effect that makes the smoothie that much more enjoyable. It is also very refreshing, and contains no added synthetic sugars or colours, which most conventional lemonades contain.
Pineapple contains the almighty inflammation-busting bromelain enzyme, so that means less aches and pains for you, as well as a better allergic response (the allergic response normally engages the body’s inflammatory cascade, so providing the body with anti-inflammatory substances like bromelain in pineapple and curcumin in turmeric are crucial if you want to gain relief from allergies).
– 3 cups ripe pineapple
– 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
– 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
– 2 inches fresh turmeric root
– 1 cup coconut water
Stick all of the above ingredients in a high-speed blender like the Vitamix, blend, and enjoy!
